World Gold Price

Usually when we refer to the ‘world gold price’ we are referring to the spot gold price. This in turn refers to the price of a troy ounce of gold, in US dollars.

If you are looking at the world gold price but considering buying a kilo bar of gold with Sterling then this might seem a little confusing. Worry not! You can easily amend the above chart to suit the currency and weight that you would like to view the price in.

Of course a kilo bar of gold is just another way of presenting a gold bar that weighs just over 32 ounces. So if you didn’t have access to this handy world gold price chart then you could carry out this simple conversion:

A troy ounce differs from a standard (or avoirdupois) ounce in that it is slightly heavier, 31.1g compared to 28.3g. So if you wish to work out how much a kilo bar of gold is, by using the world gold price in ounces then you would simply divide 1000 by 31.1 and multiply by the price you see. You can then use the prevailing exchange rate to convert the final price into the currency of your choice.

Is the World Gold Price measure in ounces?

In case you were wondering, the measure of troy ounces is only used for precious metals and gemstones. It has been used since the Middle Ages and comes from Troyes in France.

The most famous bar measured in troy ounces is the 400oz London ‘Good Delivery’ bar. This is the bar that is traded across international wholesale markets. It is from the trade of these bars that we are able to derive the world gold price.

Obviously a Good Delivery bar costs a lot of money. Luckily there are a number of different gold bars of different sizes and weights, to suit all requirements of different investors.

  • Goldcore’s 1 oz gold bullion bars weigh exactly 1 troy ounce, like all of our bars they are made from investment grade bullion.
  • The 250 gram gold bars is one of our most popular bars. This is understandable given it is easy to store and transport.
  • Our 10 Ounce Gold Bar is sold at slightly lower premiums than 1 ounce gold bars or coins.
  • 500 gram Gold Bar If you are a High-Net-Worth and/or store-of-value buyer, then you will find yourself in good company when buying this bar. It is a great option for those wanting to purchase gold bars at lower premiums.

If you'd like to include Gold in your portfolio but need some assistance, please contact GoldCore by chat, email, or phone, and our knowledgeable team would be happy to help.

Is the Game Over for The Fed?

Unsurprisingly the Fed raised rates yesterday. The price of gold and the silver price rallied, suggesting more people are realising there is little the Fed can do to influence the economy at this stage and so it might be better to take control of their portfolios and invest in gold bullion and buy silver.
